I love this drink first thing in the morning! It’s one of my morning rituals, a refreshing and tangy wake me up.
During the cold months of winter, it’s also hot and comforting to sip. During warmer, summer months, I add just enough room temp water after my lemonade has steeped, so to make it warm, not piping hot.
This warm lemonade is a great liver tonic and it has also been found to aid in healing sore throats, chest congestion, and stuffy noses. Enjoy it either as a preventative or a curative.
*The “twist” or shaved lemon skin adds some additional flavor and potent vitamins and minerals like A and C, calcium, magnesium, beta-carotene, and potassium, with up to 10 times more nutritional value, bone supporting and cancer-fighting properties than the juice itself.
**Be sure to use heat resistant glass or ceramic containers to avoid plastic contamination.
** Alyce’s Summertime Lemonade With a Twist version is my basic lemonade recipe made with added crushed mint and can be refrigerated.
