After every seminar, I spend the next few days looking back on my presentation with its discussions. I try to recall, what I said, what I did not say and even what I merely mentioned and perhaps did not state strongly enough. I also think back to the very rich and relevant questions and statements, which lead to powerful discussions, and more food for thought. As with everything in life, older theories and newer views can sometimes cause a clashing of ideas, but I believe that within a safe space for open and heartfelt sharing we have the opportunity to enrich our minds and therefore make room for newer and better understandings. Thank you to All who attended, and who participated with thought-provoking shares. These seminars would be nothing without my participants!
First Do No Harm! What immediately comes to mind is what I believe to be the most important point I made toward the end of my presentation. As with everything in life, especially your health and wellness: First Do No Harm! What I mentioned is the very important statement: “If and when you are to embark on any new health care regime (including weight loss), first seek out a knowledgeable healthcare professional!” I mean this very sincerely. Only you really know yourself, both your mental and physical health, and your medical history, but with some guidance you can make better informed decisions for any new changes you choose to make. So, when embarking on a weight loss program, do seek out guidance from a knowledgeable healthcare professional. Some examples of these are; Functional MDs, Naturopathic Physicians, up-to-date MDs or Nurse Practitioners, and or a Clinical Nutritionists who can help you navigate and avoid any missteps.
My Aim: My seminars are designed to give you food for thought, to raise questions, and to point out some avenues for you to follow, so to make up your own mind on how to achieve your optimal health. As I have continually stressed the aim of all my seminars, including this past seminar: Weight Loss and Management, Naturally, is Not to give you a quick fix. Indeed, I don’t believe in quick fixes for health, but on the contrary, I endorse following a new, yet ancient path for living as nature intended. We are moving into a new, yet ancient model for how to eat in order to regain or maintain our best health and then lose weight (if needed). This era of the non-diet is the very essence of The New View.
The New View hits Major Media: Please be sure to take a look at the article I handed out from the weekend cultural supplement of the Financial Times (FT Weekend~ January 6, 2017), Gut instinct: why more fat may be the best way to lose weight, by Sarah Gordon. “The Greyshott program is part of a growing global health movement which argues that much of the dietary advice given by governments, and nutritionists for the past 50 years is wrong; that low- fat food, far from being healthy, is bad for you”. This article beautifully illustrates The New View I presented on Wednesday night, which is to essentially embrace an ancestral approach to eating delicious whole foods for optimal long-term health, weight loss and management.
Dairy, Bio-Individuality and Choice: Although, as you now know that I happen to be a fan of raw dairy products, some people just don’t eat dairy (either raw or pasteurized) for very legitimate reasons.
In this vein, it is important to reiterate the powerful concept of bio-individuality, which is that each person is unique based in his or her biological background (ancestry, and personal history), and therefore each individual has unique needs.
• Lactose Intolerance demonstrates a strong example of bio-individuality in relationship to dairy. Within the estimated 10,000 years that mankind has been producing and consuming dairy products, there are certain populations (including some people of Eastern European extraction) who have been found to be Lactose Intolerant which means they have inherited a trait that does not allow them to properly digest dairy.
• Some people choose not to consume dairy for other reasons. The vegan population for example, consumes no animal products, and therefore eschews dairy as a matter of principle and choice.
• Some people, during cold and flu season stop using dairy products because these products can be mucus building so can contribute to prolonging respiratory or sinus related illnesses.
• In addition, dairy, especially milk, has been found to contribute to acne in some individuals. So, dairy is definitely Not for everyone.
But for many of us who can tolerate dairy well, and who believe in and respect the nutritional and gut health value of dairy, according to my research, raw dairy products are best. To better understand my particular choice of Raw Dairy, please see this article by Dr. Joseph Mercola. As you will see, it is strongly opinionated and not everyone may agree to all of his statements. Nonetheless, I believe he is correct in his main points. I hope this article stimulates your curiosity and gives you some food for thought.

A Taste of Things to Come: For you cheese lovers, we will be learning some more about the health benefits of natural bacteria found in raw dairy during the next two Health & Wellness Seminars ~ The Microbiome, Your Gut is the Gateway to Your Health, to be held on March 7th, and 21st.
